James Whitfield moved to the Costa Blanca in 2019 after 12 years in UK hospitality and events management. A lifelong grilling enthusiast, he founded Costa Blanca Outdoors to solve a problem he experienced first-hand: finding quality BBQs and outdoor cooking equipment as an expat in Spain. He now lives in Jávea with his partner and two dogs, and has personally helped over 200 expat families set up their outdoor kitchens across Alicante province.

Why I Started Costa Blanca Outdoors

When I moved to Jávea in 2019, I wanted a proper kamado grill for my terrace. Back in the UK, I'd have ordered one online and had it delivered within days. In Spain? I spent weeks searching. Most UK retailers wouldn't ship here. Spanish shops had limited stock and no English support. When I finally found a grill, the delivery was a nightmare — dumped on a pallet at the end of my street.

I knew I wasn't alone. With over 500,000 expats living across the Costa Blanca, there had to be thousands of people facing the same problem. So I built the service I wished had existed: premium outdoor cooking equipment, delivered properly, with expert advice in your language.
